Jan B's Quilt

Jan B had some black & white fabric put away for "something special". On a trip to Mittagong and "The Village Quilt Shop", she was delighted to see a Sashiko quilt. After a lesson at the shop, Jan now has a use for her black and white fabric and this quilt is now in productiion.

The quilt features bobbin work in the center of each block using a perle thread in a Sashiko design, with each block  having a different design of bobbin work. It has then been combined with Log Cabin techniques of light and dark strips to from a stunning block. As a group we all cannot wait to see this quilt completed.

Log Cabin patchwork blocks are one the simplest forms of patchwork, they are after all just straight strips of fabric sewn together. They are a great project for beginner sewers. The bobbin work is also easy, and a great decorative way to jazz up any project. Bobbin work is also a great way to understand the tension of a machine.

Have you got a desire to learn about Log Cabin piecing, Sashiko stitching, or understand bobbin work? Then perhaps a visit with our group could be on your agenda. One of our friendly members will be there to help. Our next meeting will be:-

9.30am - 12.30pm
